  16. These simulations use the actual installation files.  However, they have
  17. been modified so that they don't actually write to or look for a hard disk.
  18.  This allows the program to run on a PC with no hard disk. If the program
  19. is run on a workstation with a hard disk, no damage will be done to the
  20. workstation disk because of these modifications.

  197. This diskette contains a simulation version of the NetWare v2.2 INSTALL,
  198. WSGEN and ROUTEGEN utilities.
  199.

  207. NOTE:
  208.    While you may choose any LAN driver in this simulation, the hard disk
  209. information is set.  It will display Industry Standard (ISA) for Channel 0,
  210. and Disk Coprocessor Board (DCB) for Channel 1.  If you select any other
  211. disk driver, the program will still display ISA and DCB as the selected
  212. drivers.  Also, in the simulation, the DCB has two drives connected, two
  213. CDC WrenIII embedded-SCSI disk drives.

  217. INSTALLATION ON A NETWORK
  218.  
  219. To install this software on a network, follow these steps for EACH user who
  220. will run these programs. This program is NOT shareable.
  221.  
  222. 1. Create a directory that will contain the simulation files.  The name of
  223. this directory is not pre-defined.
  224.  
  225.           For example, md install1
  226.  
  227. 2. Create four more directories under this directory.  Name them:
  228.  
  229.           SYSTEM-1
  230.           SYSTEM-2
  231.           WSGEN
  232.           ROUTEGEN
  233.  
  234. 3. Copy the files from the directories on the diskette to their respective
  235. directories on the network (SYSTEM-1 to SYSTEM-1, SYSTEM-2 to SYSTEM-2
  236. WSGEN to WSGEN, ROUTEGEN to ROUTEGEN).
  237.  
  238. 4. Copy the INSTALL.EXE file from the SYSTEM-1 directory into its parent
  239. directory (INSTALL1 in the above example).
  240.  
  241. 5. Copy the WSGEN.EXE file from the WSGEN directory into its parent
  242. directory (INSTALL1 in the above example).
  243.  
  244. 6. Copy the ROUTEGEN.EXE file from the ROUETGEN directory into its parent
  245. directory (INSTALL1 in the above example).
  246.  
  247. 7. This completes the installation. You are now ready to run the
  248. simulation.
  249.  
  250. 8. To run the INSTALL simulation, type INSTALL while in the parent
  251. directory mentioned above (INSTALL1 in the example).
  252.  
  253. 9. To run the WSGEN simulation, type WSGEN while in the parent directory
  254. mentioned above (INSTALL1 in the example).
  255.  
  256. 10. To run the ROUTEGEN simulation, type ROUTEGEN while in the parent
  257. directory mentioned above (INSTALL1 in the example).

  260. INSTALLATION ON FLOPPY DISK
  261.  
  262. 1. These simulations may be run from four floppy diskettes (high-density). 
  263. Copy the SYSTEM-1 files to a diskette with a "SYSTEM-1" volume label, the
  264. SYSTEM-2 files to a second diskette with the volume label of "SYSTEM-2",
  265. the WSGEN files to a third diskette with the volume label of "WSGEN" and
  266. the ROUTEGEN files to a fourth diskette with the volume label of
  267. "ROUTEGEN".
  268.  
  269. 2. To run the INSTALL simulation from floppy, insert the SYSTEM-1 diskette
  270. in drive A and type INSTALL.
  271.  
  272. 3. To run the WSGEN simulation from floppy, insert the WSGEN diskette in
  273. drive A and type WSGEN.
  274.  
  275. 4. To run the ROUTEGEN simulation from floppy, insert the ROUTEGEN diskette
  276. in drive A and type ROUTEGEN.
  277.

  279. INSTALLATION ON A HARD DRIVE
  280.  
  281. To install this software on a hard drive, follow these steps:
  282.  
  283. 1. Create a directory that will contain the simulation files.  The name of
  284. this directory is not pre-defined.
  285.  
  286.           For example, md install1
  287.  
  288. 2. Create four more directories under this directory.  Name them:
  289.  
  290.           SYSTEM-1
  291.           SYSTEM-2
  292.           WSGEN
  293.           ROUTEGEN
  294.  
  295. 3. Copy the files from the directories on the diskette to their respective
  296. directories on the network.
  297.  
  298. 4. Copy these FIVE files from the SYSTEM-1 directory into its parent
  299. directory (INSTALL1 in the above example): INSTALL.EXE, $RUN.OVL,
  300. SYS$MSG.DAT, SYS$ERR.DAT, SYS$HELP.DAT.

  302. 5. Copy the WSGEN.EXE file from the WSGEN directory into its parent
  303. directory (INSTALL1 in the above example).
  304.  
  305. 6. Copy the ROUTEGEN.EXE file from the ROUETGEN directory into its parent
  306. directory (INSTALL1 in the above example).
  307.  
  308. 7. This completes the installation. You are now ready to run the
  309. simulation.
  310.  
  311. 8. To run the INSTALL simulation, type INSTALL while in the parent
  312. directory mentioned above (INSTALL1 in the example).
  313.  
  314. 9. To run the WSGEN simulation, type WSGEN while in the parent directory
  315. mentioned above (INSTALL1 in the example).

  317. 10. To run the ROUTEGEN simulation, type ROUTEGEN while in the parent
  318. directory mentioned above (INSTALL1 in the example).

  321. 1. The files that have been modified for this simulation are listed below:

  329.  All other files are the same as on the NetWare v2.2 distribution
  330. diskettes.
  331.

  333. FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES
  334.  
  335. To allow several students in a class to use this simulation, you must
  336. create a directory for each.  You could name the directories INSTALL1,
  337. INSTALL2, and so on. Follow the procedures for NETWORK installation then
  338. duplicate to appropriate student directories.
  339.  
  340. This Simulation Software diskette contains batch files to make the loading
  341. and unloading of the programs easier. For instructions on the use of these
  342. batch files, put the diskette in floppy drive A: or B: and Enter the
  343. command: INFO. To duplicate for multiple students, remap S: and run the
  344. ngo.bat file again.
  345.  
  346. If you happen to need to remove the simulation software from either the
  347. local or network drive sometime, there are appropriate batch files on this
  348. diskette.
  349.  
  350. To unload from a NETWORK drive, map S: to the parent directory of the
  351. simulation directories (INSTALL1 in the example above), change to the
  352. floppy drive with the simulation software and Enter the command: NNOSIM
  353. <source drive, i.e. A: or B:>.
  354.  
  355. To unload from a LOCAL hard drive, change to the floppy drive with the
  356. simulation software diskette and Enter the command: LNOSIM <local hard
  357. drive, i.e. C: or D: etc.>.
  358.  
  359.
